Mechanical Design Engineer

Textile automation machinery, sheet metal and special purpose machines

  • Coimbatore (Irugur)
  • 3 to 10 years
  • Full-time
Automatic cone box packing line designed and built by Indo Texnology

The role

You will design the machines we build: conveyors, grippers, indexing mechanisms, frames and sheet-metal guarding for automatic cone packing, bobbin sorting, cone transport and storage systems. You take a design from concept to released drawings and BOM, stay with it through fabrication and assembly, and fix what does not fit. You will join an experienced mechanical design team and learn how a spinning mill works from the inside.

What you will do

  • Design special purpose machines and their mechanisms: conveyors, grippers, pushers, indexers, lifts and guides that handle cones, bobbins and cartons.
  • Design sheet-metal frames, guards, chutes and enclosures for laser cutting, bending and welding, built to run three shifts a day in a dusty mill.
  • Do the calculations yourself: motor and gearbox sizing, pneumatic cylinder sizing, belt and chain drives, bearing life, loads and tolerance stack-up.
  • Release clean 2D manufacturing drawings with correct tolerances and GD&T, and keep BOMs, part numbers and revisions accurate.
  • Work with our fabrication, machining and assembly teams and outside vendors, and solve fitment problems on the shop floor.
  • Visit customer mills to study the process, take measurements and support installation, so each machine fits the site first time.
  • Adapt existing machines to new cone, bobbin and carton sizes for each customer, and improve designs from field feedback.

Who we are looking for

  • 3 to 10 years in machine design, most of it on special purpose machines (SPM) or automation equipment.
  • Strong sheet-metal design: flat patterns, bend allowance, weldments, and designing for laser cutting and press-brake bending.
  • SolidWorks for 3D design and drawings. Other CAD tools are fine if you are willing to work in SolidWorks.
  • Hands-on with standard automation parts: pneumatic cylinders and valves, geared motors, servos and steppers, linear guides, bearings, belts, chains and sprockets.
  • You have released drawings and BOMs that went into production, and you have gone to the shop floor to fix what did not fit.
  • BE / BTech or Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Production Engineering.
  • Textile machinery experience (spinning, winding, packing) is a strong plus, but not required.

You don't need to match every line. If most of this is you, apply.

Short, specific answers beat long ones. Tell us about one mechanism you designed that was built and worked, and what you changed after the first build.

Your first year

  1. First 30 days

Learn our products, design standards and how fabrication, assembly and installation work today. Visit a customer mill.

  2. By 90 days

Own the design of a module or a customer-specific change, from concept to released drawings and BOM, and see it through assembly.

  3. By 12 months

Lead the mechanical design of a complete machine or a new product variant, and cut the fitment issues reported from assembly and site.

Why Indo Texnology

Your work runs in more than 150 installations

Since 2007 we have designed and built automation for spinning mills in India, Indonesia, Bangladesh and beyond, all from Coimbatore.

  • Real machines, real mills

What you design is built in our own shop, commissioned at customer mills and runs three shifts a day. You see your work in production within months, not years.

  • Whole machine under one roof

Mechanical design, fabrication, PLC and controls, computer vision and service all sit in Coimbatore. The people you need to finish a machine are a short walk away.

  • Problems nobody has solved

We build automation that does not exist off the shelf: cone packing with inspection, bobbin sorting, overhead cone transport, storage and retrieval for spinning mills.

How hiring works

  1. Apply online

About 10 minutes on a phone or laptop. Attach your CV.

  2. Call with the team lead

Within a week if your experience matches. A short conversation about your work and ours.

  3. Practical round

A real problem from our shop floor or a live project, discussed with the team.

  4. Meet the directors

    Final conversation, then an offer.

We tackle unsolved challenges, create cost-effective solutions, assess their impact, and bring them to market.
